Beachcombing: Dickenson Bay

Aquamarine, azure, crystal clear turquoise, beautiful blue water, soft powdery white sand are some of the adjectives used to describe Dickenson Bay.  Located on the northern side and the main hotel belt of the island it offers the fully-loaded beach experience of water-sports, snorkeling, horseback ridging, cocktails and more.

Dickenson Bay is a 10-minute walk or a 3-minute shuttle ride from the Trade Winds Hotel and is the view every guest wakes up to every morning from your private balcony.

Being on the main hotel belt the crowdedness of the beach is affected by the time of the year.  Today it was fairly crowded as the summer season tends to be a bit slow.  As we got there we were welcomed by the buzzing sounds of jet skis zipping by.  As you walked along the beach visitors and locals can be seen swimming, strolling, paddle boarding or lying in their personal cabanas sipping on colourful summer cocktails.

The water-sports activities are endless as one can rent jet-skis, paddle boards, water-bikes, snorkeling gear from local tour operators located on the beach.  Skip the hassle of the city and get your souvenirs, paintings, tees and island trinkets from the local vendors right on the beach.

Our next beach adventure will be private island style as we head over to Prickly Pear Island on July 10th, 2013, speak to our Reception Team if you will be staying with us and would like to tag along.
