Congrats Christa & Marcia.

Congratulations to Christa John and Marcia George who both successfully completed the Supervisory Management Course at University of the West Indies (UWI) Open Campus which was endorsed by the Antigua Hotel & Tourist Association (AHTA).

Christa John - Receptionist/Relief Night Audit & Restaurant

The intense ten (10) week course under the instruction of Ms. Shirlene Nibbs covered the following areas of management studies:

  • Management Pyramid
  • Communication
  • Leadership
  • Problem Solving

Ms. Nibbs said that she was overwhelmed by the response and participation exceeded her expectations.   She also commended each student on their diligence, discipline and their accountability in ensuring they attended all the classes…traits of a good manager.

Marcia George - Restaurant Supervisor

In speaking with Marcia she stated that for her the experience was great and she learnt a lot of valuable information which she has been applying to her daily functions.  She went on to say that even though the course was intense it was also a very intimate learning experience as persons were divided into work-groups.  Each work-group member was diverse allowing for increased creativity, multiple approaches and solutions to assigned tasks and this was evident in each group’s final presentation.  During the graduation celebration course participants presented their final group assignment in the form of skits, poems and PowerPoint presentations.

As part of our organizational development and success Trade Winds Hotel recognizes that training is crucial to moulding the thinking of employees which leads to quality performance, increased efficiency and productivity.  We are very proud to have Christa and Marcia on our team.  CONGRATS!

Feel free to introduce yourself to Christa the next time you check in at Trade Winds Hotel, or ask Marcia what’s her favourite dessert on our new menu.
