Let’s Play Ball!

Being a Caribbean island cricket and football (soccer) is normally the sport one would see being played on the village fields, on the beach and on side streets.  However as the Diaspora in the Caribbean and here in Antigua changes baseball is quickly becoming a popular sport.  In a few years we may very well be singing “Rally around the West Indies” at Baseball World Series :-)!

Through affiliation with the Little League Baseball International Program headquartered in Pennsylvania the Antigua Barbuda Little League was form in 1994.  The League here promotes and supports the development of baseball from an early age of 5 years old.  With four clubs and academies Antigua & Barbuda has participated in regional tournaments and in the 1st quarter of 2015 plan to host their first ever Local Championship amongst the clubs.

We recently had the honour of hosting Board Members of Little League International Mr. Jose Berrios and Mr. Jose Guzman who were here to facilitate and supervise the elections of the new ABLL Board of Directors and to also conduct a statistical record keeping workshop.

The League’s approach to integrating players, coaches, trainers and family it what inspired us here at Trade Winds Hotel to become involve.   We are looking forward to working with Antigua Barbuda Little League as they continue to build the love, passion and opportunities in baseball for our youths.

The Management & Team of Trade Winds Hotel would like to congratulate the newly elected Board of Directors.

Let’s play ball!
